As Co-Founder and Head Colour Technician of The Hair House, Tom has spent the last year doing what he does best — creating stunning colour transformations, building a loyal clientele, and helping to shape a salon environment that’s vibrant, welcoming, and completely one of a kind.

His proudest moment? It’s not about one big event — it’s about consistency. For Tom, the real reward has been walking into the salon each day and feeling a deep sense of contentment and purpose. “It’s not just a space for clients,” he says, “it’s a community.” A place where people feel safe, inspired, and supported — including himself. The Hair House has allowed Tom to fall back in love with his craft, especially his passion for colour work.

Over the past year, Tom’s also stepped into new territory. Taking on the renovation of the second floor has been no small task, but with determination — and plenty of teamwork with Gabrial — they’re making it happen. “There’s nothing we can’t do,” he says. And while the creative side has always come naturally, Tom admits that learning the ins and outs of the business side was a challenge. Now? He’s thriving in both roles.

Of course, the laughs have been plentiful too — and Tom credits Ellie as the main source of chaos and comedy. “Whether she’s being clumsy or just her usual hilarious self, she’s had me in stitches,” he says. One highlight? The now-legendary glue-spill incident that had the whole team in fits of laughter.

One of Tom’s most memorable transformations this year was for a client named Jae. After a full bleach, Tom toned the hair with a bold coral pink and lime twist — a daring, colourful combo that turned heads and completely elevated the client’s look. “It’s one of my favourite creations of all time,” he says — and that’s saying something.

Along the way, Tom has embraced the lessons that come with running a business and managing expectations. “Not every colour goes perfectly,” he admits, “but I’ve learned not to panic — just be honest.” That commitment to transparency has deepened client trust and made him an even stronger technician and team leader.

One standout moment for Tom this year was the Follwell’s Women’s Day Event, where the salon hosted a packed day of collaborations, celebrations, and community spirit. It was the perfect reminder of how far The Hair House has come — and how many lives it now touches.

When asked what moment he’d relive, Tom doesn’t hesitate. “This whole year has been surreal. Being my own boss means so much to me — and I’m living the dream.” That gratitude and excitement come through in every client consultation and every head of hair he transforms.

As for what’s improved? Tom says he’s now more confident when it comes to working with clients. Knowing they’re choosing him — not just the salon — has helped him grow both personally and professionally.
