End of Summer into Autumn: My Take on What’s Next in Hair Trends

As the summer heat fades and autumn begins to settle in, I’ve been keeping a close eye on the shifts happening in hair trends. Seasonal changes are always exciting in the salon — clients are ready for a refresh, and the fashion world is moving fast into what will be big for autumn and winter.
After looking at what’s making waves globally and reflecting on what works best for our clients here at The Hair House, here’s my take on the styles and shades I believe we’ll be seeing more of as we move into the colder months.
The Return of Shaggy Layers
The shag cut isn’t going anywhere. Its modern versions — softer, more wearable, with feathered layers — are brilliant for clients wanting volume and movement without high maintenance. It works across straight, wavy, or curly textures, and grows out beautifully. For those who want something low-effort but full of character, this is the go-to.
Pixie with a Twist: The Pixie Mullet

Hair by Tyler, Senior Stylist at The Hair House
One of the boldest looks I’ve seen recently is the hybrid pixie-mullet. It combines softness through the crown with a little retro edge at the back — striking but surprisingly versatile. For clients who love individuality and want something that feels current, this could be a big request heading into winter.
Curve Cuts — Softly Framed Elegance
The “curve cut” is one of those shapes that flatters just about everyone. Think layers that gently curve in towards the face, creating bounce and structure without feeling heavy. I love this for clients who want refinement but still need a cut that grows out gracefully.
The Bob, Reinvented
The bob hairstyle never truely disapears, and this autumn is no different. Whether it's neck-length with gentle layers, side-parted, or blunt and smooth, the bob is an ideal match for autumn coats and chunky scarves. It's a timeless style, yet always versatile.
Warmth in Colour
This is where I think we’ll see some of the most exciting transformations. After months of sun-lightened hair, autumn brings an opportunity to add richness back.

Hair by Tom, Head Colourist at The Hair House
Bessette Blonde — Think neutral-warm, buttery beige rooted with soft toffee depth so it looks naturally sun-lit rather than freshly foiled. A creamy, sun-kissed shade that feels luxurious without being brassy.
Mocha and Marigold Blends —
Rich, plush brunette with a neutral-warm “coffee crema” reflect—expensive, glossy, never flat.
Luminous, gold-apricot blonde—soft, sunny, and editorial without going brassy.
Brunette bases lifted with warm caramel, copper, or golden tones to add depth and glow.
At The Hair House, I expect we’ll see a lot of clients leaning into these multi-dimensional colours to brighten up the darker days.
Care Tips for the Colder Months
With the weather cooling down, hair often needs extra protection. Central heating, scarves, and dry winter air can all zap moisture. I always recommend clients:
Keep up with regular trims to maintain shape.
Use hydrating treatments at home to prevent dryness.
Don’t forget heat protection — especially as we move back into more styling for the festive season.
Final Thoughts
Autumn is one of my favourite times in the salon. There’s a real buzz as clients look for change — whether that’s embracing texture with shaggy layers, sharpening things up with a bob, or warming up colour for the season ahead.
What excites me most is how these trends can be adapted to each individual. It’s never about copying a celebrity look directly — it’s about finding what version of the trend works best for you.
So, if you’re ready for a change, now is the perfect time to refresh your style. Let’s make sure your hair feels as ready for the season as your wardrobe does.
