Sip, Slice & Shuffle: Pizza, Dancing, Cowboys & Plenty of Laughs!
Well… what a night!
Our Sip, Slice & Shuffle fundraiser was everything we hoped it would be — over 80 fabulous guests, plenty of dancing, delicious pizza, a room full of cowboys and cowgirls, some questionable line-dancing skills and, most importantly, an incredible £400 raised from raffle ticket sales alone for Douglas Macmillan Hospice.
Held at the The Sanctuary Dance Studio in Stone, the evening was organised as part of the run-up to our very own Strictly Knot Dancing challenge, where our Head Stylist Gabrial is taking to the dance floor to raise funds for Dougie Mac.
And if Sip, Slice & Shuffle was anything to go by… we might need a LOT more dance practice before Strictly!
Yee-haw! Let’s dance! 🤠💃
We were lucky enough to have the amazing Oliver Hand leading our line dancing session.
Oliver had the unenviable task of teaching more than 80 people how to line dance — and somehow managed to keep most of us moving in roughly the same direction!
There were shuffles, spins, kicks, questionable footwork and plenty of laughter as everyone threw themselves into it.
Whether you were a seasoned dancer or someone who normally avoids the dance floor at all costs, Oliver had everyone up and moving.
And honestly? We absolutely loved it!
If the evening has inspired you to dust off your dancing shoes, The Sanctuary Dance Studio has a fantastic range of adult dance classes.
Who knows… you could be the next Strictly star!
Pizza, pizza, pizza!
After all that dancing, it was definitely time for the slice!
A huge thank you to Carl from The Loaded Bistro, who kept our hungry dancers fuelled with some seriously delicious pizza.
Because let’s be honest, line dancing is hard work — especially when you’re trying to remember which foot goes where!
The pizza was absolutely delicious and went down a storm, making the perfect accompaniment to an evening of dancing, drinks and plenty of laughs.
Who wore it best? 🤠🏆
Things got even more competitive when we challenged our guests to get into the Wild West spirit with our Best Dressed Competition.
And boy, did they deliver!
We had 20 guests enter the competition, with some seriously impressive cowboy and cowgirl outfits on display.
After much deliberation, our winners were:
🤠 Best Dressed Cowboy: Jase Mountford
🐎 Best Dressed Cowgirl: Julie Mirowski
And to make it even more special, Julie is another Strictly Knot Dancing contestant!
£400 raised from raffle tickets!
We also held a blind raffle, with some fantastic prizes generously donated by local shops, businesses and traders from Artisan Market stalls.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone who bought tickets, we raised an amazing £400 from raffle ticket sales alone.
That’s £400 going towards Douglas Macmillan Hospice, simply from people having a bit of fun, taking a chance on a raffle ticket and supporting a great cause.
We really can’t thank everyone who donated prizes and bought tickets enough.
More than just a night out
What made Sip, Slice & Shuffle so special was seeing over 80 people come together for one very important reason.
Yes, there was pizza.
Yes, there was dancing.
Yes, there were cowboys.
And yes, there were some dance moves that probably should never be repeated!
But underneath all the fun was an amazing community coming together to raise money for Douglas Macmillan Hospice.
For Gabrial, the fundraising journey has a particularly personal meaning as he takes part in Strictly Knot Dancing in memory of his mum, Lesley.
Every pound raised and every person who gets involved makes the whole experience that little bit more special.
And the Strictly journey continues…
Sip, Slice & Shuffle was another brilliant milestone on the road to Strictly Knot Dancing, but the fundraising doesn’t stop here!
A massive THANK YOU to every single person who came along, danced, ate pizza, dressed up, bought raffle tickets, donated a prize or helped make the night such a huge success.
And a special thank you to:
Oliver Hand
Carl from The Loaded Bistro
All of our amazing local businesses and Artisan Market traders who donated prizes
Our 20 Best Dressed entrants
Our 80+ wonderful guests
Together, you’re helping us raise much-needed funds for Douglas Macmillan Hospice — and we couldn’t do it without you. ❤️
Now… who’s ready for the next shuffle?
The Strictly countdown is officially on! You can get your tickets here! 💃🕺🤠✨
